Reflection Plan

How do your products represent social groups or issues?
The music video and the digipak, in particular were created to represent the teenage/young adult social group. In the music video, this representation was shown through the lens of a friendship theme. The music video was made with the intention to create a light-hearted and carefree mood, which is the aspect of "youth" that I have chosen to portray. The visual components of the digipak were assembled not only with photography, but also with hand-drawn doodles. I chose to do this because cute and simple drawings tend to represent the youth. This is typically due to the fact that they are centered on themes of learning and development, as their creations are simple, imperfect, yet pleasing.
How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of "branding"?
The visuals from my digipak and my social media page consisted of images from the music video, as well as graphics that looked playful and imperfect due to lack of symmetry. I stuck to the concept of youthful and bright with a slight touch of nostalgia.
How do your products engage with the audience?
Other than viewing the music video, the audience could certainly buy the physical digipak that has been promoted in the social media page. The audience could also comment on posts from the social media page that promotes the band/music video.
How did your research inform your products and the way they use or challenge conventions?
I looked at examples of digipaks and many of them look clean and put-together. Since my concept is youth, I wanted to stray from that. I went for playful and cute instead of clean and professional because that is how I want youth to be represented. Growing is a learning process and perfection should not be expected when trying something for the first time. My music video also included bloopers, which has been done before, but it is not an aspect of MVs that are utilized all the time.
