Postmodernism Case Study
Case Study - choose one of the case studies provided on pgs 206-207 and create a blog that includes your summary of how the case study represents postmodernism in media along with an image to accompany your writing.
This case study uses pastiche, parody, intertextual references, and self-referentiality to represent postmodernism in media. A pastiche, in terms of tone, works to imitate other works respectfully. Don't Look Up pays homage to codes and conventions found in the films: Deep Impact, Armageddon, and 2012. This film also uses the parody technique to mock and ridicule other works through the use of comical moments that center on the "ridiculous" response of a nation towards scientific findings. According to the AICE textbook, the film's undeniable anchor to postmodernism is the presence of multiple intertextual references and self-referential moments.
